WHAT
The annual month-long celebration, SaMo PRIDE, returns in June honoring the LGBTQIA+ community, individuality, inclusivity and acceptance. This year, the celebration is anchored by the first-ever SaMo PRIDE Festival on Saturday, June 3 that will turn the entire downtown district, from the Third Street Promenade through Santa Monica Place to the Santa Monica Pier, into a party zone for all ages.
LGBTQIA+ artists are invited to submit proposals for the creation of one of six photo booth installations featured throughout the SaMo PRIDE Festival. Each unique, standalone photo booth will be stationed in high-traffic locations spanning downtown Santa Monica, interpreting the theme "Colors of PRIDE." Images of participants from each photo booth will be used to create a Colors of PRIDE photo-mosaic and contribute to the legacy of inclusivity, diversity and acceptance in the Santa Monica community.
For consideration, artists should submit a design proposal for a 10'x10'x10' immersive space where attendees of all ages can step inside the artist's vision. Selected design ideas will be brought to life and constructed with the help of a provided carpenter and will be available for interaction with thousands of festival attendees. Each artist will also receive a $500 honorarium and have their photo and bio included on the official SaMo PRIDE website.
Colors of Pride is funded in partnership with Santa Monica Cultural Affairs.
WHEN
Submissions are accepted now through Friday, April 28. Photo booths will be featured as part of the SaMo PRIDE festivities on Saturday, June 3, 2023.

About SaMo PRIDE
To further embrace the city's core values of equity and inclusion, SaMo PRIDE was established in 2019 as a city-wide partnership between the City of Santa Monica, Downtown Santa Monica, Inc., Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica Place and Santa Monica Travel and Tourism dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community and providing a platform to champion individuality and acceptance. Since its inaugural year, SaMo PRIDE has evolved into a rich community tradition with displays, events and activities for all ages that encapsulate the city's inclusive and diverse spirit. SaMo PRIDE continues to strive to increase visibility and understanding of the broad spectrum of gender identities and experiences within the LGBTQIA+ community.
Santa Monica has received a perfect score on the Human Rights' Campaign's 2021 Municipal Equality Index in recognition of the community's broad commitment to LGBTQIA+ equity inclusion, creation of safe spaces, inclusive policies, and advocacy for LGBTQIA+ protections.
