The First Southern California Outdoor Ice Skating Rink to Open this Holiday Season
Grand Opening Celebration on Nov. 8th with a Free Skate, Live Performance,
and Local Restaurant Vendor Fair
Santa Monica, CA – (Oct. 18, 2017) – Winter is coming as the old adage goes, and that really only means one thing in Downtown Santa Monica – the seasonal return of Ice at Santa Monica. Beginning Nov. 1, 2017 and continuing through Jan. 15, 2018, the Westside's premier skate rink and holiday gathering spot will once again freeze over with 8,000 square feet of real ice. Produced by DTSM, Inc., Ice at Santa Monica is located at the corner of 5th Street and Arizona Avenue and brings swirling feax-snowfall and wintry vibes to the district every day of the week, holidays included.
To spark its 11th season with festive spirit, Ice at Santa Monica will throw a Grand Opening Celebration on Nov. 8 with free skating and eats from local restaurant partners. From 6:30pm to 10pm, skaters of all sizes and skillsets can enjoy a performance by some of California’s most elite skaters and a free skate session to the beat of DJ jams. Guests, family and friends will enjoy a wintry themed photo booth and free food from a restaurant lineup that includes Red O, Yogurtland, Enso Tea, Lemonade, and Obicà Mozzarella Bar Pizza e Cucina. The event is completely open and free to the public, and guests are invited to bring a new unwrapped gift or gift card to support the PAL Best Gift Ever Toy Drive, which provides presents to children in Santa Monica who are less fortunate than most.
The 2016-17 season drew nearly 55,000 skaters to the rink and 104 birthday celebrations and events to the cabanas that line the perimeter. For those looking to up their technique, lessons are available through the Randy Gardner's School of Skating, which provided 436 lessons this past season.
