The Santa Monica History Museum will offer free admission on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from noon to 8 p.m. at the Santa Monica History Museum at 1350 Seventh St., Santa Monica, CA 90401. All are invited to visit on this day to take advantage of free admission to the museum’s six galleries. In addition to the permanent exhibition detailing the founding and growth of the City of Santa Monica, the Santa Monica History Museum is currently offering a special exhibit on the history of Girl Scouts. The exhibit, The Journey of Girl Scouts: Empowering Young Women, details the history of the Girl Scouts of the USA using documents, photographs, memorabilia, and artifacts like uniforms dating back to the 1940s. Long a fixture of the Santa Monica community, the exhibit will also share the history of local girl scouting. Photographs from the Santa Monica History Museum’s collections will be on display as well as objects on loan from local former Girl Scouts and the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles Heritage Committee.
