Stogie Kenyatta bring his NAACP award-winning solo show about African-American artist/activist Paul Robeson, "The World is my Home - The Life of Paul Robeson", a powerful heartfelt and humorous evening of theatre, to the Santa Monica Playhouse. Kenyatta plays 12 characters and ages from 5 to 65, with props, several wardrobe changes and a finger-snapping soundtrack by Ellington, Coltrane, Fats Waller, Cab Calloway, Louie Armstrong & Robeson himself. This "Turn-of-the-Century Love Story" about the triumphs and tragedy of the great Paul Robeson is told with music, comedy, passion and heartfelt emotion. "The World is my Home" brings to the stage everything from his close friendship with Albert Einstein, his affection for the Jewish people, the Holocaust, Jim Crow Laws, the Harlem Renaissance, his complex 44 year marriage to Eslanda and America's amazing, yet painful history. Only two performances for Black History Month 2023: Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 6pm and Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 7pm.
